SpaceX’s spacecraft The Crew Dragon has embarked on a mission with two NASA astronauts. The mission was launched from Kennedy Space Center in Florida, USA. After nine years in the US, such a mission has been executed.
The rocket vehicle, manufactured by Elon Musk’s SpaceX company, successfully sent two NASA astronauts from Florida to orbit Saturday, heading towards the International Space Center (ISS). This is the beginning of a new chapter in the history of commercial space travel with SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket.
This is the first time that astronauts have been sent to the International Space Station (ISS) through a private spacecraft.
NASA astronauts Bob Benken and Doug Hurley as astronauts. They were selected in 2000 and both of them have gone into space twice through space shuttle.
The SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft, carrying NASA astronauts Bob Behnken (49) and Dog Hurley (53), flew from the launch complex of NASA’s Kennedy Space Center via the company’s Falcon 9 rocket at 3.22 pm.
They are the most experienced people of NASA’s Astronaut Corps. He has left for ISS from The Crew Dragon spacecraft of Elon Musk’s company SpaceX. Benken and Hurley are in the orbit and will be in zero gravity. The journey to the International Space Center for this pair is 19 hours.
The first attempt was made on Wednesday, but due to bad weather, the mission was postponed in the last moments that day.
US President Donald Trump also became a witness
After 2011, such a mission has been carried out in the US for the first time. President Trump came to the Kennedy Space Center in Florida to see the launch.
NASA administrator Jim Bridenstine said that he was praying at the time of launching.
The launch from Florida’s Kennedy Space Center is also important because it is the first time in nearly a decade that humans have been sent into orbit from US soil.
With this launch, SpaceX became the first private company to have sent humans into orbit.
The reusable, gumdrop (candy)-shaped vehicle is named Crew Dragon, which will now take American astronauts on a 19-hour journey to the International Space Center. The spacecraft will be on the ISS at 10.29 am on Sunday.
